Signs that you should replace your roof

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2016 by Seawright Roofing

  • A roof that is 20+ years old
  • Shingle edges are curled or shingle tabs are cupped
  • Granules in the gutter or bald spots where you are missing granules
  • Your neighbors are getting new roofs: If your homes were built around the same time, you may have the same weather-related roof issues as your neighbors
  • Wind, Hail, or Storm Damage
  • Cracked or missing shingles
  • Leaks: keep an eye on your roof valleys and chimney flashing because they can be particularly susceptible
  • Dark Streaks: While algae on your roof may not cause structural problems, it can be an eyesore, particularly if you are trying to sell your home
  • Daylight through the roof boards: If you feel a spongy or bouncy feeling when you are walking on your roof, it may mean that moisture is damaging your decking. Check your attic for water in the insulation and light coming through the roof boards
