This is episode 14 of Lost in the Midlands. We sat down with Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. We are all familiar with the United Way brand, but Sara explains the breadth of their effort from targeted reinvestments with local non-profit partners to direct assistance programs that impact children, housing, the homeless and healthcare. These services include often overlooked needs such as vision and dental care. Sara also discusses two major efforts; the Midlands Reading Consortium and Resilient Richland, an initiative to help youth-serving professionals identify and respond appropriately to markers of childhood trauma. This is the United Way story in our community, and many are in need of help of the very first time and just do not know where to turn. We hope you enjoy watching and help us spread the word of the assistance available from Sara Fawcett’s organization.
